Sept 30: OAEC WATER Institute and Patagonia Films present: ARTIFISHAL Movie screening

We hope you can join us for a film screening of Patagonia’s new provoking film ARTIFISHAL at OAEC’s Meeting Hall on Monday September 30th!

ARTIFISHAL is a film about people, rivers, and the fight for the future of wild fish and the environment that supports them. It explores wild salmon’s slide toward extinction, threats posed by fish hatcheries and fish farms, and our continued loss of faith in nature.

OAEC’s Water Institute is a long-time grant recipient of Patagonia for the unique value of our work to build watershed consciousness and promote creative solutions to restoring salmonids the Russian River basin and beyond. For the last decade, Patagonia has primarily supported our Bring Back the Beaver Campaign, acknowledging beaver as critical ally to restoring native salmon and riparian biodiversity across California.

We’re also excited to show this film as our next door neighbor, Sashwa Burrous, was a principle cinematographer for the film. Sashwa and the filmmaker Josh Murphy will join us, and Josh will do a Q&A with the audience after the film. OAEC’s WATER Institute co-Director Brock Dolman will give a rousing introduction to the film, providing context and connections to the decades of salmon restoration work here in the Russian River basin.

We expect this event to sell out and tickets will not be available at the door, so we encourage you to get tickets as soon as possible! Please reach out to OAEC’s Program Manager Cooper Freeman at with any questions about the evening.

Please feel free to forward to other interested folks.
We hope to see you there!
